Community Service

Because we are an intregal part of the community, it is extremly important to give back to the community we serve. We do this in many ways. We provide standby services at no charge for high school sports games, graduation activites, police operations, and many other events. In addition to our standby services, we have an annual education program that we present to two high schools in the area called "What to Do Until the Amublance Arrives." This course provides first aid knowlege to the youth of our city. During the 2005-2006 school year, a fully-accredited EMT course will be offered to students at Wendover High School. Under the direction of the Wendover Ambulance Service, a variety of experts will be contracted to teach in each of their areas of expertise. This new program is one of the first of its kind in a rural area. We teach multiple CPR classes to the community every year cost free. Every year we sponsor an EMS Week celebration and bring in safety-related events for adults and children alike. Injury prevention is our main education topic during this annual event. A bike rodeo teaches children about helmet use and bike saftey. Crash simulators stress the importance of seat belts. The climbing wall is a big hit; it teaches proper equipment use as well as helmet use. We try to illustrate how drinking and driving impairs your senses by having people drive a course wearing goggles that simulate impaired vision similar to being intoxicated. Police, Fire, Clinic, and Ambulance all attend and set up demonstrations and hands-on events that stress injury prevention techniques. Below are pictures of some of our events.
