Our Team

Wendover Ambulance employs about 40 part time EMT's and 4 full time EMT's. Most of our EMT's work in the health care field as their everyday occupation. We run three people on our crews--one driver (who is an EMT Basic), one EMT Intermediate, and one EMT Basic. We have two scheduled crews available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for response. If both crews are out, we are able to call in other crews as needed.

We are part of the healthcare team in both Nevada and Utah.

When a patient is in critical condition, we will utilize one of three helicopter services--Lifeflight out of LDS Hospital, Airmed out of the University of Utah, or Access Air out of Elko, Nevada.

There is a family practice clinic here in West Wendover, Nevada, operating from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday. The clinic has two doctors, a physician's assistant, and multiple medical assistants there to assist patients.

We transport to Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital in Elko, Nevada, as well as all the Salt Lake area hospitals. Our online medical control is out of LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, and our off-line medical director is Dr. Elmer Alegre out of the clinic in West Wendover, Nevada. We are lucky to be in the area of 2 Trauma Centers, 1 Pediatric Hospital, 1 Burn Center, 1 Hyperbaric Chamber (for scuba diving emergencies), and one Brain Attack Center (for strokes).

There are three fire departments in our service area; West Wendover Fire Department, Wendover Fire Department, and Tooele County Wendover Airport Fire Department. The fire departments respond to all life-threatening calls in their respective areas.

We have a great working relationship with all the agencies in our service area as well as the hospitals to which we transport. Below are some pictures of our partners in EMS.
