Special Events

Wendover is in a hot spot for Special Events because of our unique landscape. The famous Bonneville Salt Flats are used multiple times throughout the summer for land speed records for cars, streamliners (specially-designed cars that have set the land speed records exceeding 500 mph), and motorcycles. Knolls Recreation Area is a popular ATV sand dune that gets use all year long. There are races for motorcycles, mountain bikes, sand buggies, and horses. Movies and commercials are filmed here on a regular basis. You might recognize the area around Wendover from such films as Independence Day and Con Air.  Wendover Air Field  was a major contributor to the US efforts in World War II.  The Enola Gay bomber departed from here on its mission to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Events today recognize the historic events at the Air Base.  In addition, there are regular in-town events such as rodeos, softball games, high school sports, and holiday events. We cover them all and provide support if people are injured.
